About Landfill Leachate

Do you know? In addition to garbage that needs to be sorted, landfill leachate also needs to be sorted.

According to the characteristics of landfill leachate, it can be simply divided into: transfer station landfill leachate, kitchen waste leachate, landfill landfill leachate, and incineration plant landfill leachate.

What are the characteristics of these four types of landfill leachate?

The characteristics of the transfer station leachate:

1. There are many main sources of wastewater: mainly domestic wastewater, flushing wastewater, and landfill leachate.

2. Due to the short residence time of the garbage in the garbage transfer station, the output of leachate is small.

3.The concentration of pollutants in the transfer station is lower than that of other pollutants, and the concentration of COD is about 5000~30000mg/L

The main characteristics of landfill leachate are:

There are many kinds of organic pollutants, and the water quality is complex (contains dozens of organic substances)

High concentration of pollutants and wide range of changes (initial BOD and COD concentrations are the highest, up to tens of thousands of milligrams per liter, pH value is at or slightly lower than 7, B/C is between 0.5-0.6, and the biochemical properties are good) , generally speaking, the COD, BOD, BOD/COD ratio decreases with the “age” of the landfill, and the alkalinity increases

The water quality and quantity vary greatly: the water quantity varies greatly with the seasons (the rainy season is obviously greater than the dry season); the composition and concentration of pollutants also change with the seasons; the composition and concentration of pollutants change with the landfill time.

The main characteristics of landfill leachate in incineration plants are:

High concentrations of COD, BOD, and ammonia nitrogen (COD can reach 40,000~80,000)

The fermentation time is longer than that of the transfer station.

Main features of kitchen waste leachate:

High suspended solids: Different leachates have different proportions of suspended solids in the settleable state and colloidal state, as high as 60,000 to 120,000 mg/L, with high dispersion and difficult to separate;

High oil content: mainly animal and vegetable oils, up to 3000mg/L after pretreatment

High COD, usually easy to biodegrade, up to 40,000 to 150,000 mg/L;

low pH (usually about 3); high salt content.
