When the wastewater decolorizing agent is injected into the wastewater tank, a microscopic color-capturing reaction begins. There is no fixed time for the agent to completely react; under good conditions, it takes effect within minutes, while under complex water conditions, the entire process takes no more than half an hour.
The first few tens of seconds after the agent enters the water are the diffusion and destabilization stage. Under the action of water flow or agitation, the agent disperses rapidly, and molecules adsorb colored particles in the water. Within about one or two minutes, fine flocs begin to form in the water, and most colored pollutants complete their initial binding.
The next three to five minutes are the critical stage of floc aggregation and growth. The tiny flocs collide and aggregate, continuously increasing in size and weight like a snowball, continuously encapsulating the pigments in the water. At this stage, the decolorization effect of conventional dyeing and domestic wastewater can reach over 90%, and the water gradually becomes visibly clearer.
Finally, the sedimentation and separation stage begins. The formed flocs settle by gravity, generally requiring five to ten minutes to complete the separation of mud and water. For difficult-to-treat wastewater containing reactive dyes and oil, colored impurities are hard to capture, extending the entire reaction cycle to fifteen to twenty minutes.
The reaction rate is affected by multiple conditions: thorough agitation accelerates reagent diffusion; a suitable weakly alkaline environment in the water body increases reagent activity; and low temperatures slow down particle movement, prolonging the reaction time.
In summary, for ordinary wastewater, the addition of decolorizing flocculants completes the entire reaction within ten to fifteen minutes, achieving sludge-water separation; even for stubborn colored wastewater, the entire decolorization and sedimentation process typically does not exceed half an hour. A series of continuous microscopic reactions trap the pigments in the wastewater within the sludge, clarifying the wastewater and ensuring it meets standards.
