“China Urban Sewage Treatment and Recycling Development Report” and “Water Reuse Guidelines” series of national standards were officially released

Sewage treatment and recycling are the core components of urban environmental infrastructure construction. In recent years, my country’s urban sewage treatment facilities have developed rapidly and achieved remarkable results. In 2019, the urban sewage treatment rate will increase to 94.5%, and the county sewage treatment rate will reach 95% in 2025. %, on the other hand, the quality of effluent from urban sewage treatment plants has continued to improve. In 2019, the utilization of urban recycled water in the country reached 12.6 billion m3, and the utilization rate was close to 20%.

In January 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission and nine departments issued the “Guiding Opinions on Promoting Sewage Resource Utilization”, which clarified the development goals, important tasks and key projects of sewage recycling in my country, marking the rise of sewage recycling as a national action. plan. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period and the next 15 years, the demand for reclaimed water utilization in my country will increase rapidly, and the development potential and market space will be huge. By summarizing the development history of urban sewage treatment and recycling in my country and compiling a series of national standards, it is of great significance to promote the development of sewage recycling.

In this context, the “Report on the Development of Urban Sewage Treatment and Recycling in China” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”), organized by the Water Industry Branch of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering and the Water Treatment and Reuse Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, was published by Tsinghua University. , China National Institute of Standardization, Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School and other units led the formulation of the “Water Reuse Guidelines” (hereinafter referred to as “Guidelines”) series of national standards were officially released on December 28 and 31, 2021.

Professor Hu Hongying of Tsinghua University said that the utilization of reclaimed water is a green way and a win-win way to solve the problems of water shortage, water environment pollution and water ecological damage in a coordinated way, with significant environmental and economic benefits. Urban sewage is stable in quantity, controllable in water quality, and desirable nearby. It is a reliable secondary urban water source with huge potential for utilization. Sewage recycling and the construction of reclaimed water plants are important guarantees for the sustainable development of cities and industries, and play an important role in achieving sustainable development goals. significance. The release of a series of national standards and development reports for the utilization of reclaimed water provides an important basis for the utilization of reclaimed water, and is of great significance to promoting the rapid and healthy development of the reclaimed water industry.

Sewage treatment and recycling are the core components of urban environmental infrastructure construction, and also an important starting point to fight the battle against pollution, improve the urban living environment, and improve the urban water supply security capacity. The release of the “Report” and “Guidelines” will It plays an important role in advancing the cause of urban sewage treatment and resource utilization in my country to a new level, building a new pattern of urban development, and accelerating the construction of ecological civilization and high-quality development.
